October-
October started with a very busy weekend with Joey's sister and her family coming from New Mexico. They met us at the football game which included the girls participating in the "Lil' Stepper's" program. The Hi Steppers are the drill teams at TX schools and they do a one day clinic with elementary age school girls in the community and include them in their first half activities at a football game. The girls did a dance they had learned, cheered the football players as they ran onto the field and danced in the stands when the band played. Both girls were able to participate this year and they had a great time. Ethan also performed with the biggest band ever! The high school invited both Middle School bands to play that same night, both in the stands and on the field. The band stretched from nearly one end zone to the other, almost filling the entire field.
Ethan also received his Star rank at the Boy Scout Court of Honor and attended the temple to do baptisms for the dead for the first time.
The kids enjoy the special days at school for dressing up like Hat Day and Crazy Sock Day to go along with events like Red Ribbon week.
Since we no longer homeschool, we enjoy going and participating in the special events and activities they plan for families at the school, like music programs and pumpkin carving with the kindergarteners. Bronwyn loved having her mom there and didn't mind sharing her with her classmates whose parents couldn't be there.

Joey has also been enjoying his new calling during this time, 11 year old Scout leader. He has taken them to all three of their allotted campouts in the few months that he has been their leader. I am getting a lot of happy moms tell me how glad they are to have them working with their boys. He is very patient with them and committed to getting them as advanced toward Eagle as possible before they leave him when they turn twelve. It means he spends weekends away but he gives me ample time and support to do my calling and follow my interests, too. Like going to see a lecture from the Green Smoothie Girl with some friends. I came home with some new information and determination to eat better and even the kids and Joey have been asking for smoothies. Color me surprised! (Surprise must be green)
I've also been doing a lot of crocheting, with so many of my friends with new babies, it is a necessary skill!
